Environmental Responsibility
The proper recycling of IT equipment has become a growing global concern. Many companies entrust their IT departments to properly dispose of all data and equipment. Unfortunately, many IT groups fail to follow standard protocols to secure client data and recycle equipment. The end results are equipment such as servers and desktops with unformatted hard drives ending up in third world countries where client-sensitive data is then sold to the black market. The equipment itself is then unsafely melted to extract precious metals, further releasing dangerous pollutants into the atmosphere.
Techovation understands the need to keep all client data private and secure, while doing its part to remain environmentally responsible. We follow DoD (Department of Defense) procedures to erase all end-of-life hard drives to ensure client-sensitive data has been successfully wiped. The best method to dispose of end-of-life equipment is to further their lifespan, either through an employee-purchase program, or by donating the equipment to schools or non-profit organizations. For equipment that is no longer functional, Techovation only contracts with recyclers who follow proper disposal methods.
